The Vision of Victoryby Pastor Billy Joe Daugherty![]()
Everything at Victory comes under one of these five main purposes. Look at each one prayerfully.
"This people have I formed for myself, they shall show forth my praise." The choirs, orchestra, music teams, cantatas, and worship services all provide avenues to lead us into
praise and worship, both as a body and individually. It is up to the church to pray God's will into the earth. Jesus said: "I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I
will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed
in heaven." The church is a community of believers. It is a family--loving together and caring for each other. We are a body with many members (I Corinthians 12:12). Every member of the church needs the other members. God uses each of us to supply something to someone else. The first believers in Acts Chapter 2 shared
their possessions with one another. They ate together, prayed together and worshipped God together.
Cell Groups, Sunday School classes, and programs for various
age groups such as children, youth, college and career,
singles, couples, and senior citizens each provide meaningful fellowship opportunities. Foundational to all that is done in the church is the Word of God. The apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher are given by God to train and equip the believers to do the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12). The Word of God builds and equips believers to be and do what God desires. The vision of Victory is to
constantly nurture believers until they grow into full maturity. Victory
Christian School, Victory Bible Institute,
Sunday School,
tapes & books, radio teaching sessions,
Word Explosion, seminars, and
cell groups each provide training for the believer to be
equipped to do the work of the ministry. "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15 (KJV) The
church is called to proclaim good news, heal the sick,
deliver the oppressed, and set the captive free (Luke
4:18). We have the answer to the World's
problems and we must share Him. The purpose of the baptism
of the Holy Spirit is the power to witness (Acts
1:8).
All that we do in worship, prayer, fellowship and teaching
is preparation for evangelism. God gave Jesus because
He loved the world. His love has not changed; we are
to go to the unsaved with this message of God's love.
Street witness teams, world missions, teen missions, outreaches, TV specials, door-to-door campaigns,
tracts, and benevolent ministries are all instruments of evangelism. All Work Together Worship, prayer, fellowship, teaching, and evangelism each of these 5 areas is important. All of them flow
together as one, thus giving the total vision and ministry of the local church. There are specialized
departments and programs that may emphasize one or more areas, but all of them are incorporated into the Sunday
and midweek services. You Have a Part There is a place for you at Victory. Seek God's will. He will reveal to you the place you can give and receive in this ministry. Growth comes from commitment. Get your roots down into this vision. The greater your commitment and dedication, the greater your growth and progress will be. |
