DELIVERED FROM SHAME
In this lesson
you will learn what shame is and how people deal with shame. You will learn
that Jesus delivered us from shame.

Definition
of shame.
A.
The
conscious awareness in a person’s mind and heart that they have guilt and
condemnation. Shame causes people to have a loss of dignity, honor, and
confidence. Shame also causes people to feel unworthy, unimportant, and of no
value.

Some
of the things that cause shame in a person’s life.

Troubled
background, family situations, or broken home.
B.
Financial
conditions, lack of finances.
C.
Lack
of education.

Religious
systems, didn’t measure up to expectations.

How
people deal with shame.

Pride
and arrogance.

Draw
inward – life becomes a walled fortress.

Occupy
self in busyness and try to ignore or bury shame.

delivered us from shame.

Romans
8:1-2 – “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ
Jesus…” – v.1. Jesus came as the second Adam to restore what the first Adam
lost and get back what the enemy had stolen.

Isaiah
54:4 – “Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; neither be disgraced, for you
will not be put to shame; for you will forget the shame of your youth…”

53:1-6 – Jesus bore our shame and experienced our rejection.
