RECEIVING YOUR INHERITANCE - PART 2

In this lesson, you will learn that God has distributed His wealth to all of those who are in His family. As a son or daughter, you become an heir to receive the inheritance.

I.                    The prophet Malachi’s revelation on how to receive your inheritance and what blocks you from receiving it – Malachi 3:8-12.

A.      Do not rob God of your tithes (10% of your income) and offering. Fear will cause people to not give the tithe.

B.     God will open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing that there is not room enough to receive it. If you do not give the tithe, God shuts the heavens.

C.     God said He would rebuke the devourer for our sake. If you disobey God, you are under the curse and you open the door to the devourer.

D.     Matthew 6:21 – “For where you treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

II.                 Genesis is the first time tithing is mentioned – Genesis 14:18-23.

A.     Melchizedek, the king of Salem, reveals to Abram that God is the Most High God; He is owner of heaven and earth, provider, and deliverer.

B.     Tithing is an act of obedience, honoring God for who He is, recognizing God for what He has done, and is faith for the future.

III.               You are redeemed from the curse – Galatians 3:13-14, 26-29.

A.     Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law. Jesus became a curse for us. He took our sin and the penalty for it.

B.     We are redeemed that the blessing of Abram might come on us in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Your faith is how you receive the inheritance. There is no difference between Jew or Gentile (non-Jew). We have all been made one in Christ.

C.     Deuteronomy 28 – Verses 1-14 describe the blessings, and verses 15-68 describe the curses.

IV.              How to receive the blessing and stop the attacks.

A.     Revelation 12:11 – “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.”

B.     Psalm 107:1-2 – “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good…Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.”

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

·        When did you first learn about tithing?

·        Share the blessings you have received from being a tither.

·        How are you walking out Revelation 12:11 and Psalm 107:1-2?

BE A DOER OF THE WORD

This week make a decision to begin tithing if you are not yet a tither. If you already tithe, claim the promises of Malachi 3:8-12.

SCRIPTURE MEMORY VERSE: Malachi 3:10 – “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse.”
