MIXING FAITH WITH GOD’S WORD

In this lesson you will learn how to mix faith with God’s Word and the importance of speaking faith and not fear to receive the promises of God.

I. Mixing faith with God’s Word – Hebrews 4:1-2.

A. Verse 2 – “For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.” Your faith is the active ingredient that, when added to God’s Word, causes that Word to come to pass in your life.

II. The importance of speaking faith and not fear – Numbers 13-14.

A. Faith and fear work the same way only in opposite directions. When the Israelites came to the edge of the promised land, they sent in twelve spies to spy out the land.

1. Ten spies came back with a negative report of fear, doubt, and unbelief and said there were giants in the land and they were like grasshoppers in comparison.

2. Two of the spies, Joshua and Caleb, said, “We are well able to overcome it.” 

B. The people believed the evil report and God said what they spoke would happen to them. They died in the wilderness, except for Joshua and Caleb, who gave the good report.

III. How to mix faith with the Word to receive the promises of God.

A. Hebrews 11:6 – “Without faith it is impossible to please Him.”

B. 2 Corinthians 1:20 – “All the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen.”

C. Jeremiah 1:12 – “I am ready to perform My word.”

D. Mark 9:23 – “If you can believe, all things are possible.”

E. Luke 1:37 – “For with God nothing will be impossible.”

F. Matthew 17:20 – Faith as a mustard seed – nothing will be impossible.

G. Mark 11:22-24 – What you ask, when you pray, believe you receive.

H. Ephesians 3:20 – “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above …according to the power that works in us.” No limitations.

IV. Parable of the sower – Mark 4:1-20.

A. In this parable the soil is our heart and the soil determines the harvest.

B. You need to put the Word of God in your heart and believe it, because you determine if you will receive the 30-, 60-, or 100-fold return.
