THE SECOND COMING OF THE LORD – Part 4

In this lesson you will learn the purpose in knowing these end-time events is to have expectation, to prepare, and to purify yourself. It will also motivate you to get others ready for isHiHis     His  His     His coming.

 

I.                    The Second Coming of the Lord – Zechariah 12-14.

A.     Zechariah, the prophet, prophesied about Jerusalem and the end time.

B.     Zechariah 12:2 – “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness (trembling) to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem.”

C.     Zechariah 12:3-9 – “The Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem and…destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem” – vv. 7,9.

D.     Zechariah 12:10 – Two things will happen at this time – God will fight against nations that are against Israel, and there will be a Spirit of grace for the remnant. Then they will look on the One whom they pierced.

E.      Zechariah 13:1 – “In that day a fountain shall be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness.”

F.      Zechariah 14:2-16 – All the nations will gather in battle against Jerusalem, but the remnant of the people will not be cut off from the city. “His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west…the Lord my God will come, and all the saints with You” – vv. 4-5.

 

II.                 John’s view of the second coming – Revelation 19:11-21.

A.     Revelation 19:11-13 – “Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war…His name is called The Word of God” – vv. 11,13.

B.     Revelation 19:14-16 – “Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations… And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: King of kings and Lord of lords” – vv. 14,16.

C.     Revelation 19:17-21 – “And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army” – v. 19.
