Victory World Outreaches
Rwanda – July 7-11 2008
The Victory World Missions Outreach to Kigali, Rwanda was an opportunity for us to be a part of the restoration in Rwanda. Devastated by the 1994 genocide – the slaughter of over 800,000 men, women and children – Rwanda is still rebuilding in every way. Victory Teen Missions and Adult teams reached out with the love of Jesus to a hurting, healing nation.
The Leadership Conferences provided much needed encouragement, training and materials for the pastors and lay leaders of many area churches. Pastors Billy Joe and Sharon Daugherty shared and taught all week on practical areas of ministry. “You Are Valuable” was the theme for the Women’s Conference led by Pastor Sharon. The women filled the unfinished church building and were so responsive to the ministry. Each woman was given a scarf and other items which blessed and encouraged them. The nightly crusades were held in an open field and the people came and enjoyed the prayer, praise and worship that opened each night’s services. Pastor Sharon sang songs in the local language of Kinyarwanda. The people were especially blessed with the songs in their language. One lady said, “It is a great thing when a person learns a greeting in our language, but to sing a song, and then many songs in our language - that truly is love. And so, we receive and accept them because of their demonstrated love for us.”
One of the main themes that came from the crusade was the message of the power of forgiveness. A seventeen-year-old girl named Vencina testified that she was choosing that night to forgive the people that she witnessed murdering her entire family when she was just three years old. She said, “Until tonight, I have been a person of great sorrow, but tonight I am choosing to forgive so that God’s love and joy can come into my life.” Many others followed her bold example and stepped forward to make the decision to forgive.
Many also received miracle healings in their bodies. A five-year-old boy named Olivier had a large tumor on the back of his head that had appeared when he was four months old. The tumor was painful and caused deafness in his left ear. He was prayed for on the third night of the crusade. On the fourth night he came back and his family testified that the tumor had disappeared overnight and he could hear again.
A man named Ananias had a broken ankle that had never healed correctly which made him unable to walk well and caused great pain. He testified and demonstrated that he could walk without pain as he danced across the stage. Your generous gifts allowed us to preach the good news, heal broken hearts and bodies, and encourage the precious people of Rwanda. Your gifts truly made a remarkable difference in countless lives. THANK YOU! ![]()
